How to Get to Birhen Nature Resort

Birhen Nature Resort is located in Alicia in the Barangay of La Hacienda – 1 hour away from Anda.

The road leading to Birhen Nature Resort is new and isn’t on Google Maps. I’ve marked the turn for Birhen Nature Resort below.

At the turn, you’ll see a sign for Birhen Nature Resort. Birhen Nature Resort is 2 km down the road from the turn.

Our Experience at Birhen Nature Resort

After exploring the Princess Manan-aw Cave, we felt hot and exhausted and needed a place to cool down. Our guide told us about Birhen Nature Resort, which isn’t a resort but a swimming pool fed by a cold spring that comes out of a cave.

We told our guide we would check it out, so she video-called the lady working at Birhen to let her know we were coming. It seems like everyone knows everyone out here!

To get to Birhen Nature Resort, our guide told us to go to the village of La Hacienda and look for the sign for Birhen Nature Resort as it can’t be missed.

When we arrived at the turn, we found that the sign was the only indicator that Birhen Nature Resort exists. The nature resort and the road that leads to it were not on Google Maps, so we’re glad our guide told us about the sign.

We turned onto the road, and to our surprise, it was in excellent shape since it had been paved recently. When we got to the end of the road we parked and went into the resort.

When we got in, we found the largest cold spring that we’ve seen in Bohol. It was in pretty good condition – the floor of the pool is made of tile so it’s comfortable to walk on.

Swimming at Birhen Nature Resort Cold Spring

We took a dip in the water. While it wasn’t the coldest spring, it was nice to swim after a hot day of adventuring.

Inahagan Cave

I took some time to look around the area and found Inahagan Cave tucked away behind the pool.

I noticed the big blue pipes sucking water out of the cave for the swimming pool so it was evident that the water for the spring pool comes from the cave.

There was a big fence around the entrance to the cave so I asked some locals and they said the cave had been closed for a while.

What to Pack for Bohol

Here are some of our must-have items you might not have thought of when packing for a trip to Bohol.

  1. Crocs: During our time in Bohol, I was so glad to have Crocs to protect my feet when exploring rocky terrain and chasing waterfalls. They are the ultimate shoe in the Philippines for a reason – many Filipinos wear them too!
  2. Snorkel: With all the amazing snorkeling spots in Bohol, it helps to have your own snorkel set like this one if you plan to do some underwater activities! Plus, you won’t need to worry about renting a snorkel, which may be of… questionable quality.
  3. Sunscreen: For some reason, sunscreen is expensive in the Philippines and I’ve even encountered places selling fake sunscreen that doesn’t work! So I recommend bringing your own sunscreen to Bohol.
  4. Dry Bag: With all the sand, salt, and water flying everywhere during our adventures, I was so glad to have a dry bag to keep all my things safe from the elements!
  5. Travel Towel: In my opinion, a travel towel like this one is super necessary for a trip to Bohol! It packs down nicely and was there for me anytime I went swimming, or just needed to brush sand or dirt off.
