Pamomoan Beach is one of Siargao’s best beaches. It’s located on Kangbangyo Island, just off the west coast of Siargao. It’s a long, white sandy beach with calm waters dotted by rows of coconut trees.

But getting to Pamomoan Beach is kind of tricky. You can’t just drive there. The only way is by boat. And there’s no direct tour to get there either. Most people only stumble across it by chance on a Sugba Lagoon tour, and even then, not all Sugba Lagoon tours include it.

In this guide, I’ll share everything you need to know about visiting Pamomoan Beach from Siargao, including how to get there on your own and what to expect when you arrive.

How to Get to Pamomoan Beach

Most people get to Pamomoan Beach as part of a Sugba Lagoon Tour:

First, make your way to the Port of Sugba Lagoon in Del Carmen. This is where all the boats depart for tours to Sugba Lagoon and Pamomoan Beach. We rode our motorbike there, parked in the port’s parking area, and entered the port.

Once you’re in the port, head to the dock and look for the booth selling Sugba Lagoon tours. These are the official government-operated tours, and you’ll have plenty of options to choose from.

Some tours go directly to Sugba Lagoon, while others include stops at Kawhagan Sand Bar, Pamomoan Beach, the Mangrove View Deck, or a scenic boat ride through the mangroves. With nine different tours available, you’re sure to find one that matches the locations you want to visit.

The tours that include a visit to Pamomoan Beach are Tour B, B+, C, and D:

Tour B:

Sugba Lagoon + Kawhagan Sand Bar
OR
Sugba Lagoon + Pamomoan Beach

  • Boat rental: 2700 pesos

Tour B+:

Sugba Lagoon + Kawhagan Sand Bar + Pamomoan Beach

  • Boat rental: 3050 pesos

Tour C:

Sugba Lagoon + Kawhagan Sand Bar + Mangrove View Deck
OR
Sugba Lagoon + Pamomoan Beach + Mangrove View Deck

  • Boat rental: 3050 pesos

Tour D:

Sugba Lagoon + Kawhagan Sand Bar + Pamomoan Beach + Mangrove View Deck

  • Boat rental: 3650 pesos

All the tour boat rentals can accommodate up to 6 people, and there is an additional entry fee of 100 pesos per person for foreigners or 50 pesos per person for locals.

Personally, we went with tour B+ since it was a good balance of visiting Sugba Lagoon, Kawhagan Sand Bar, and Pamomoan Beach. Our boat rental cost was split among four people, so the total cost was about 860 pesos per person.

After paying the tour fees at the port, you’ll be assigned a boat and introduced to your boat captain for the day.

Your boat itinerary isn’t usually fixed, so you can chat with your captain about where you’d like to go first. We started our tour early, hoping to beat the crowds at Sugba Lagoon, so we told our captain we wanted to go there first and he was totally fine with it.

If you’d rather have Pamomoan Beach or Kawhagan Island to yourself before other boats arrive, you might want to head there first instead. It’s your choice.

What to expect at Pamomoan Beach

When your boat arrives at Pamomoan Beach, it’ll pull right up onto the beach, where it’ll stay tied off while you explore. From the moment you hop off, you’ll notice how peaceful the beach feels. There’s no road to get there, and its only accessible by boat.

Towering coconut palms line the beach, providing pockets of shade. Feel free to sit down at one of the tables underneath to grab some food or drink. There’s a small restaurant tucked into the trees, a few huts scattered around, and not much else.

But even if you’re not in the mood for food, you won’t have any trouble finding your own quiet area along the shore. And while you’re chilling there, look out across the water at Kawhagan Sandbar, which is just a short boat ride away.

Pamomoan Beach: Our Experience

As our boat glided across the water, we spotted Pamomoan Beach in the distance. Our boat pulled right up onto the shore and let us off, and within seconds, we were walking on the beach.

Riding the boat to Pamomoan Beach

After paddling around Sugba Lagoon all morning, we were definitely ready for food. So we grabbed one of the shaded tables under the palm trees and ordered food from the little restaurant. While we waited, we wandered around to explore the area.

The beach was long, with soft white sand stretching out in both directions. It was enclosed on both sides by rocky cliffs that gave it a tucked-away, private feel.

I’m not sure if we caught it at high tide or not, but the water was pretty high, creating a sandy ocean along the shore. It was perfect for a warm swim, and we didn’t need to worry about kicking rocks like at many other beaches in Siargao. Behind the beach, a wide grassy area dotted with palm trees added to that familiar Siargao island vibe.

Right as our hunger really kicked in, our food showed up. We sat under the trees, ate in the shade, and enjoyed the stillness of the place. Only a few other groups were visiting there, and the beach did not feel crowded at all.

After finishing up, we hopped back onto our boat and cruised over to Kawhagan Sandbar.

Where to Stay in Siargao

Choosing where to stay in Siargao is pretty straightforward. General Luna is the island’s main tourism hub. Most of the accommodations, restaurants, and shops are located in General Luna, and it’s also where all the tours and activities depart from. If you want to be close to everything, General Luna is the place to be.

Here are our recommendations on where to stay in Siargao:

  • Luxury: If you’re looking for the best place to stay in Siargao, Las Palmas Villas is hard to beat. It has everything you would expect from a resort, including a swimming pool, a garden, and a full-service restaurant and bar.
  • Mid-range: Camanolo Homestay is located right in the heart of General Luna, but down a quiet side street. The rooms are clean and all have their own private bathrooms and AC.
  • Budget: We enjoyed our stay at Hostel Bajala so much that we ended up extending it a few times. The place is clean, cozy, and comfortable. We couldn’t ask for more.

What to Pack for Siargao

Here are some of our must-have items you might not have thought of when packing for a trip to Siargao.

  1. Crocs: During our time in Siargao, I was so glad to have Crocs to protect my feet when exploring caves and islands. They are the ultimate shoe in the Philippines for a reason – many Filipinos wear them too!
  2. Earplugs: If you’re planning to do any island hopping while in Siargao, I recommend bringing a set of earplugs for the boat rides. Most boats in Siargao have super loud diesel engines that will make your ears ring!
  3. Sunscreen: For some reason, sunscreen is expensive in the Philippines and I’ve even encountered places selling fake sunscreen that doesn’t work! So I recommend bringing your own sunscreen to Siargao.
  4. Dry Bag: With all the sand, salt, and water flying everywhere during our adventures out to Siargao’s islands, I was so glad to have a dry bag to keep all my things safe from the elements!
  5. Travel Towel: In my opinion, a travel towel like this one is super necessary for a trip to Siargao! It packs down nicely and was there for me anytime I went swimming, or just needed to brush sand or dirt off.
