In the hills above Jagna on the island of Bohol lies the enchanting Kinahugan Falls. This lesser-known waterfall features three cascades, each pouring gracefully into a serene pool of water below.
This spot is perfect for those seeking an experience away from the more crowded tourist destinations.
Whether you’re looking to swim in its cool waters, enjoy a picnic by the falls, or simply bask in its natural beauty, Kinahugan Falls provides a captivating experience.

Complete Guide to Kinahugan Falls
Kinahugan Falls is located in Jagna on the island of Bohol in the Philippines.
This waterfall is off the radar of most guidebooks but still worthy of a visit. There is no entry fee to visit the falls, but a donation box is near the entrance. No mandatory guide is required to visit the falls. You just pull up, park, and walk to the falls.
In this article, I’ll share everything you need to know about your adventure to Kinahugan Falls.
How to Get to Kinahugan Falls
Location: Kinahugan Falls – Google Maps
The adventure to the Kinahugan Falls brings you through a village and down a dirt road that ends near the falls.
Kinahugan Falls is located just north of Jagna in the village of Lonoy. It’s about a 1-hour ride from Anda or a 1-hour 45-minute ride from Panglao.
We visited Kinahugan Falls when we were based in Anda, and the motorbike ride there was mostly on the Bohol Circumferential Road, which is in good shape.
The Google Maps location we linked above is accurate, you can use that pin for navigation.
As you ride toward the waterfall location, you’ll see a sign at the turn so you won’t get lost. The final stretch is a short, steep dirt road that goes to the parking area for the waterfall.

Kinahugan Falls: Our Experience
Kinahugan Falls was our last waterfall adventure on the island of Bohol.
After we parked our motorbike, the first thing we found was a lounge area above the waterfall. There are a few shaded cabanas for sitting and a small changing room.
Just beyond the lounge area is the waterfall itself. We walked down to the falls below and were surrounded by nearly 180 degrees of water cascading into a pool below.

The waterfall is actually 3 separate waterfalls that all feed into the stream. None of the individual waterfalls are particularly tall, but their combined beauty creates a mesmerizing display.

When we got to the waterfall, we were met with some local children. The kids were all taking turns jumping into the water. We swam over to try and do a jump but the water was a bit too shallow for adults to jump in.
I took some time to explore the pool of water below the falls. The water is a milky blue color so I had a hard time seeing below the water. I could feel the rocky bottom, so walking around was a little difficult.
Is Kinahugan Falls Worth it?
Kinahugan Falls is worth the trip if you’re looking for a place to cool off in the Jagna area of Bohol.
However, the waterfall isn’t great for swimming and has few jumping opportunities compared to other waterfalls in Bohol.
We would not recommend going out of your way to visit Kinahugan Falls, but it’s worth stopping at if you’re staying near Jagna or looking for a place to stop at while passing through Jagna.
Where to Stay in Bohol
Depending on how long you stay in Bohol we recommend splitting your stays between Panglao and Anda. If you are in Bohol for less than 4 days we recommend basing yourself out of Panglao, but if you are staying longer I recommend staying at least 2 nights in Anda. Here are recommendations on places to stay:
- Luxury: Amorita Resort (Panglao)
- Mid-range: Casa Amihan (Anda)
- Budget: Bluewaves Apartment (Panglao)

What to Pack for Bohol
Here are some of our must-have items you might not have thought of when packing for a trip to Bohol.
- Crocs: During our time in Bohol, I was so glad to have Crocs to protect my feet when exploring rocky terrain and chasing waterfalls. They are the ultimate shoe in the Philippines for a reason – many Filipinos wear them too!
- Snorkel: With all the amazing snorkeling spots in Bohol, it helps to have your own snorkel set like this one if you plan to do some underwater activities! Plus, you won’t need to worry about renting a snorkel, which may be of… questionable quality.
- Sunscreen: For some reason, sunscreen is expensive in the Philippines and I’ve even encountered places selling fake sunscreen that doesn’t work! So I recommend bringing your own sunscreen to Bohol.
- Dry Bag: With all the sand, salt, and water flying everywhere during our adventures, I was so glad to have a dry bag to keep all my things safe from the elements!
- Travel Towel: In my opinion, a travel towel like this one is super necessary for a trip to Bohol! It packs down nicely and was there for me anytime I went swimming, or just needed to brush sand or dirt off.
